Privacy Policy
This policy covers the Five Words app and website.
Local Data
No account is required. Player and team names, settings, custom word lists, and saved games stay on your device; we do not upload them. They remain until you remove them or delete the app. Apple device backups may contain copies.
Services and Data Use
- Purchases: Apple handles payments. RevenueCat processes an anonymous app identifier, purchase/transaction history, Pro entitlement, and technical data to verify and restore purchases and analyse the purchase service. We do not receive payment card details.
- Ads: Google AdMob shows non-personalized ads. Its SDK may collect IP/coarse location, device/app identifiers, ad and app interactions, crash reports, performance data, and diagnostics for ad delivery, measurement, analytics, and fraud prevention. The app does not access IDFA. Pro removes ads.
- Hosting: GitHub serves word updates; Vercel serves this website. They receive IP addresses and technical request data to deliver and secure these services. We add no website analytics or tracking cookies.
- Support: we use your email address and message to answer your request.
Providers must give shared data the same or equivalent protection described here and required by law. They may process data outside the EEA; their linked policies explain safeguards. Applicable legal bases include providing requested services, legitimate interests in service operation/security, legal obligations, and consent where required for ads.
Retention, Deletion, and Choices
Purchase records are retained as needed for Pro access, restoration, disputes, fraud prevention, and legal obligations. Ad and technical data follow the providers' retention policies. Support messages are kept for your request and follow-up, then deleted when no longer needed unless legally required.
Google requests ad consent where required. Where available, change or withdraw it through Settings → Ad privacy options. Delete local data using Delete App, not Offload App; manage backup copies through Apple. Deleting data does not cancel a subscription.
Email us to request access, correction, deletion, or other applicable privacy rights. You may also complain to your data protection authority. Apple and Google provide controls for data they process independently.
